Jeremy Koletar

Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Systems thinking is how I'm wired—patterns, connections, second-order effects.

Software was the obvious career choice, and I got to work on genuinely hard problems: Facebook's web tier serving billions, Target's CDN architecture, infrastructure that operates at scales where every decision matters.

But here's what I actually care about: the space between technical and non-technical people.

That moment in a discovery call where you realize what the customer is actually asking for.

Building tools that let teams with completely different mental models collaborate.

I've done this as a production engineer at Meta, a principal engineer at Target, and a technical consultant at startups.

The titles change; the work doesn't.

Experience

Plan-It Capital Improvement Planning Software

Customer-Facing Technical Consultant
July 2024 – December 2025 Minneapolis, MN

Joined on contract for CRM migration work, went full-time when the founder needed someone who could talk to customers and translate requirements into specs the offshore dev team could build. Government finance SaaS serving municipal customers.

The work: presales technical support (joined a deal where GIS integration became a blocker, identified the actual use case, proposed API-protected CSV export that closed it), customer implementations (proof-of-concepts during evaluation, maintained technical relationships through first year), and bridging non-technical founder vision with development execution.

Career Break

Personal Growth and Development
September 2023 – July 2024 Minneapolis, MN

At 25 years old, took a break from career to focus on mental health, expand horizons, meet people from different walks of life, and grow interpersonal skills.

Subject matter expert for CDN architecture serving Target.com. Built self-service tooling and cross-functional processes that improved incident response and operational efficiency.

The work that mattered: building systems that prevented entire classes of problems.

On-call engineer for Facebook.com infrastructure, handling high-severity incident response and cross-functional reliability work.

Wore multiple infrastructure hats throughout Instagram's scaling from 750 million users to over 1 billion users.

Co-founded free-to-play online game recreating defunct Disney MMO. Scaled infrastructure supporting 6,000 concurrent users, 2M registered users, 30K monthly active users. Ages 14-19—learned operational challenges most engineers don't see until years into their career.
